Winter Schoolyard Garden Club Ideas

Mini Greenhouses

In February in Texas, it is rainy and cold many days for garden club so we create mini greenhouses and learn how to start plants indoors. We learn that you can use a variety of containers to create mini greenhouses or start seeds indoors. We will transplant these when the weather is better.

What if you FLY?

It’s rainy and cold during garden club meetings in January and February… so we do many indoor activities. We created posters for the school walls that explains compost and key hole gardens. We also colored about a million feathers…. Our Garden Clubbers needed help as we need a lot to make the HUGE wings we had envisioned. We had all students in our school color feathers to add to our wings. We finally had enough.

We hope this inspires students and teachers to reach for the stars and never give up! Fly darling Fly!

T-shirt Design Contest

In January 2018 , we had a Garden T-shirt Design Contest. We had so many students participate! It was very hard to narrow it down, but we did. These were the finalists! Aren’t they super cute!!!

It was a difficult decision, but the winner is the red shirt with the big yellow sunflower!

Check out the final design… we LOVE It!
